I'm older. Last week was birthday week. Hectic !! Yao-Fen was in town for like 22 hours, there were two birthday celebrations, and somewhere in there I was supposed to work. Work suffered.
My dad just sent me this picture from our trip to China. I guess since my bike is named Pikachu, I couldn't help riding the little kid version outside the restaurant where we ate rice field millipedes (a delicacy) at Peter's insistence.

Yes, I brought back a very common souvenir:
diarrhoea. Jonathan got it too but not as bad I
think. But I started getting a stomach ache on the
plane back, so it's not like any of the trip was
ruined.
The worst part was, on the way back from dinner at
a local Vietnamese restaurant in San Jose, my mom
needed to go into Albertsons to get a couple
things. I went in to use the bathroom. I just had
to pee. You know that feeling when you're peeing
and you need to fart? Well, if you have diarrhoea,
don't indulge that feeling.
I guess that should have been obvious, but I am a
bit feverish too so I wasn't thinking. So I stared
in shock at the shiny little brown puddle next to
my shoe. I tried to clean up in the Albertsons
bathroom as much as possible. I hope an employee
doesn't come in, drop food on the bathroom floor,
eat it, leave without washing their hands, and go
to fondle the lettuce and the melons of the
produce section.

Bye everyone, I'm going to Hong Kong. The last couple
weeks have been a sleepless period of trying to get this
paper finished, and then at the last minute some colleagues
pointed out a problem with it that's going to take a long time
to resolve.
Oh well.
Simone visited DC last weekend and it was total quality
time with me and Anne. =) We didn't want her to leave.
Hell, Thanh didn't want her to leave and he only spent
like 1.5 hours with her in his whole life.
Now I'm sitting around at home in San Jose while my dad
panics before the trip. We're running late. Gotta go
meet Jonny-Jon at SFO. I think this may be why I always
panic before trips. Runs in the family.
Daniel is so nice. He sent me a couple phones for HK
and some cash. He totally hooked us up.
OK maybe things will speed up if I start loading the
car. Catcha later...
