QAANAAQ
2002-10-23 Wed. 2pm

My officemate is nice. Sometimes she brings me the paper. Today I took yesterday's and today's Style sections to lunch, hoping to read the comics.

Instead, I read this article about forced relocation in Greenland. Why do they put this in the Style section??

So I cried in the NASA cafeteria today. And all the way back up to my office. Maybe I had too much coffee and it made me all emotional.

You know those nonsense-thoughts you get in the morning when your alarm goes off but you're NOT ready to wake up? This morning I was thinking of preprocessor #include and #ifdef commands. They were somehow processing my clock radio alarm, and the keyword "sniper" meant that I should violently slap the snooze button and shut the noise off.

Before going out to see the excellent films f8 (watch online) and Pedro and Tony (see stills) with Albert and Thanh, I ate a tomato.

I have been shopping at Safeway for a year and a half, and a couple days ago I bought this tomato at an indy grocery store. It was sweet !! I almost fell down !!

Anyways, f8 is an EXCELLENT 12 minute sci-fi animation, seemingly influenced by Myst, Max Headroom, Blade Runner, The Matrix, Robotech, and Tron. The soundtrack is Cocteau Twinsy, and there's no dialog at all.

Speaking of stuff online, there are new asl releases at mp3.com !!

Speaking of music, my shoegazer page is back up, but this is the only link to it and I don't have any of my other music stuff up yet.

OK so Pedro and Tony is a claymation... and... although it's not that simple, I kept thinking that the little domestic squabbles that are the focus of the film are quite similar to what Daniel and I go through. Plus it starts out with dorky IMs. This one was also in the queer APA films I saw last weekend with Marcus.

Originally I was going to go home and play with records. But that's not how TLC works. We ran into Tanya at the films and then all 4 of us had to get food from Ben's Chili Bowl and take it back to Tanya's to eat. With Thanh's merlot and Stoli Vanil. So now... good night.

2002-10-15 2am !!

I have a cold. I still have insomnia. I have been working a lot. MY LIFE IS SO BORING WHY ARE YOU READING THIS.

I went to see Cinerama last Friday. It was lovely. They didn't play my favorite Wedding Present song about the gazebo though. Then on Saturday Marcus and I went to see Asian queer films as part of the DC APA Film Festival. Unfortunately a lot of them did not meet my standards of "good enough to watch." But they were shorts. There was a good one about a gay couple consisting of a dog and a chicken. They got in stupid little gay couple fights, and it reminded me of Daniel and me. Except I think the dog and the chicken learn faster.

In other news...

Huey wrote a letter.

Congress didn't quite agree. Jay Bookman explains why we need to go to war in this article.

watch the shuttle launch !!
2002-10-03 3pm

I have no personal news to report. Nothing's going on. Just the usual. But this is interesting:

NASA TV will show the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis (currently scheduled for sometime Monday 07 October but this may change)...
from a camera mounted on the shuttle's external tank !!

If possible I'm going to watch this. It may be the closest we actually get to being astronauts. =) NASA TV is available on the web in windows media I think.

Plans... Anne Marks is making dinner tonight, Daniel is flying in tomorrow, Ben DeGuzman is having his 30th birthday celebration on Saturday, and what's left of Hurricane Lili should also be here on Saturday.

As a little Californian, I used to think that earthquakes were totally fun, and that hurricanes and tornadoes and volcanoes were totally terrifying.

i want to go to some of these

Upcoming shows:

i think maybe this is a blog now
2002-10-01 zero hundred hours

new page format
I'm going to start making shorter, more frequent updates, and a bunch of them will show up on the same page. Does that make this a weblog yet? Behind the scenes, I have been nerding hard. I have developed rudimentary skills with htaccess, server-side includes, and perl/cgi. I owe all my perl knowledge to Thomas, Marcus, and the man pages.

jj, the famous librarian / indypop goddess, was in town from Kansas City last weekend. She is an official art escort or something. Anyways we went to the Velocity Girl show and *les* stole the playlist from the guitarist and I stole it from her. She still thinks she's getting it back though.

Sorry *les* !! My scanner ate it !!

Unfortunately going to that show meant missing East Coast Boogiemen at stereo. DAMN !! I thought they were next week. Oh well.

send money now
I am getting very poor. So are a lot of people. Anne Marks (who now lives in DC) came up with this plan that I am going to try to follow as well: don't buy drinks at bars / clubs. Except of course at Toledo Lounge. My credit card debt is way out of control, and unemployment looms as a distinct possibility for next May. I want to move to California then but moving is very expensive. To add to the chaos, Daniel's stupid company decided to downsize him. YOU CAN'T DOWNSIZE BIGGIE-D !! !! Well, they did. That was just last Friday, so events will be developing...

Wups this was supposed to be a short entry.
